To Blog or not to Blog

Where have all the Bloggers gone? It seems many of the blogs I've followed over the years don't post any longer. I've checked their FB pages and many haven't posted for a year or longer.

It's true and I'm just as guilty as anyone. I do have a Facebook page and I get a lot of activity but I don't post as often as I should.

I see the difference and I'm guilty of posting less too. With the injury to my finger I just haven't been doing projects to post about. It also seems as though I have had other pressing issues and don't spend as much time on my computer. I've been blogging for about 5 years and I've really enjoyed it, but I wonder if I've just run out of things to blog about! I've done most of the tutorials I've wanted to share but don't want to just post the same things over and over. I thinks some of the bloggers I follow have had health issues too. I will continue to post when I can but it does seem as though things are changing.

Hi Bethann, Yes I see that there is hardly any activity on the blogs. Sometimes people stop if they have no comments, some times they loose interest or stop making any thing to post about and don't want alot of personal family activity or information put on a blog.I think some blogs are turning into strictly selling blogs, so unless you are buying no comments are necessary. People are busy and they don't have time to read other folks blogs, even if they want to, and I guess people get tired of seeing you make the same things, even if there is additional information that might be useful or entertaining. I enjoy writing on my blog and sharing what I am doing, so for me it is a personal look at my work through the years. I wouldn't do as much if I had to do in in a real book. You may not think people read your blog, but you will be surprised just who had been reading it and thinking about what you are doing at the very moment you think no one pays any attention to you. This has happened to me several times. Keep on blogging for yourself and whether you know them or not, for other people.

Do you ever get that feeling as if you're blind-folded and talking to an empty room? That's what blogging feels like sometimes. If it weren't for several of you (my friends) who take time to say hi and comment, I would really give it up.

Hi Bethann... I found your blog the other day via Jan Conwell, and wanted to chime in on the whole blogging "slump." I too have sensed a down-turn in both replies and interest in my blog at "Woodstown Whimsies." Many of the blogs that I have included in my "favorite blogs to visit" side-bar are no longer posting. I'm not a Facebook fan; but am thinking this is where doll fans (the few and far between) are visiting. Like Jan, if it weren't for the handful of folks who stop by an leave a comment, I too would call it quits. Aside from that... YOUR work is wonderful; the detail in your costuming is just over-the-top! Daryle

WOW! Love all the responses here. There indeed does seem to be a blogger slump and maybe my "Favorite Blogs To Visit" (as Daryle and Katie mentioned) post on FB. I too opened a FB page for my dolls.

Just want to THANK all you ladies for your comments.

Like Martha, I enjoy writing on my blog and it's a great way to keep a history (online journal) of my doll making.

I'd like to find you and Daryle on facebook! Are you under Stitch Fiddler or Bethann? I'll try either one (and for Daryle too) and see what I find. If I don't find you there, then I'll pester you here. :~D

I recently opened a FB page. It was under the Stitch Fiddler but I switched to Bethann Scott.
