Back in November I started sewing a Victorian style Gown for a doll I've been working on. I usually do a mock up in muslin but I decided to use a cotton print fabric. One day I hope to start with a sketch.

The bodice is lined and the sleeves are being set in. I still find it difficult to sew an "applied costume". The applied costume cuts down on bulk, but I enjoy sewing "proper garments" that are fully lined.

Here's a sneak peek at the doll I'm costuming. These are the mock-up garments. I will be sewing her a bustle and possible train which I've never sewn before. There are many adjustments that need to be made but for her first fitting....not too bad. I'm also working on a masquerade mask.

Gingerbread Father Christmas by Bethann Scott thestitchfiddler

My wishes for a wonderful Holiday Season are a little later than usual this year. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

As for me I was quite busy "cleaning out my attic" full of things collected over the years and found myself making several trips to the Goodwill and Salvation Army to donate. I didn't plan on all this sorting, after all I had a Gingerbread Father Christmas to finish. But Father Christmas and his sheep waited patiently on the shelf as I took truck loads to the thrift stores. Many of the items were Christmas decorations that I hoped others would enjoy.

Now that Christmas Day has come and gone, I'm now back to sewing and hope to finish Santa Claus and a few other projects.
