NEW DOLL~Izannah Walker Inspired Doll~ Bethann Scott

HERE IS MY NEW IZANNAH WALKER INSPIRED DOLL!

Surprise! I decided to keep this gal in hiding until she was finished. I made a couple of changes to her dress. I added more to the skirt to make it fuller this time. I did the cartridge pleating at the waist but added about 10 more inches to the width. It worked!

I love the black and white reproduction fabric. It is a beautiful print with leaves and I think they are berries. I trimmed the neck, sleeve cuffs and waist with black cotton bias. I almost gave her a cape....but maybe next time.

Instead of  the cape I was thinking about....she received a white linen bonnet. I think I made the straps a little long...but I always seem to start with no pattern and have to come up with my own. I just can't seem to find clothing patterns for these type of dolls on the internet. Just as well...because I like designing my own.

Another beautiful doll!! And you finished her so quickly. I find it amusing that you kept her a secret. I think I am going to do that with each doll I make, but when the sculpting is finished, I am so excited that I just have to tell the world.

She is lovely. Beautiful fabric and the contrasting black sets off the dress. I think the bonnet is very nice. I make up my own designs too. Seems like every doll is different from the next so a pattern wouldn't work any way!

She's lovely! I also make my own patterns. You kind of have to because 19th century dolls are never just one way across the proverbial board. Too many variants and a pattern for an 18 inch doll won't fit most 18 inch dolls, I found out the hard way.

In fact, I fit the clothing specifically to each of my dolls, so one pattern I make won't fit most of the dolls I make.

Thank-you Mary, Sherri and Robin!
and thank-you for your input on the clothing/pattern aspects.

I've searched for clothing patterns...but like you said Robin...they more than likely would not fit my dolls.

Thank-you Helena, Judi and Martha.
I did try to do a different sculpt this time around. So it's good to hear that you think she has softer lines Martha.

I also made her head smaller than the last ones...trying to do better proportions.
